Rescue Kitty and Leopard

A few weeks ago my daughter discovered a stray kitten wandering around my mom’s yard.  It’s eyes were running, it had no hair on it’s nose, but she thought he was beautiful.  We brought him home and gave him a steady diet of food, water and love.  Look at him now!

Like cats everywhere, he has to be in the action.

What I’m wearing:  Just a casual outfit for errands and lunch out with my mom.  Leopard cardigan, Belks.  White shirt, thrifted.  Jeans, rue21.  Red tennis shoes, Target.  Red heart earrings, Claire’s.  Leather belt, Eddie Bauer.  Note:  A sales clerk at Eddie Bauer told me their items are guaranteed for life.  Just save your receipts.  So this is my BELT FOR LIFE.

Namu is curious about the flashing light and clicking noises.

Ready for his own blog with this profile shot.

Namu followed me around as I made pictures documenting the changing of the seasons. Sometimes, I’m so caught up in what I’m doing that I miss the gradual changes.  I catch the first tinge of gold and then the next time I remember to look up it’s a full blaze or reds, oranges and golds.  I promised myself that this year I would stop and smell the goldenrod.  Which would be a bad idea since it fires up my allergies, but you know what I mean.

The changes are subtle.  This year I don’t want to miss a thing.

Until next time,

Thrifting Tips

I love thrift stores.  The wild variety of one of a kind items.  Knowing there is absolutely nothing in this store that you can’t afford.  It’s the great democracy of shopping.  Everyone has their own way of going about things.  Here’s mine.

thrifting

Don’t worry about getting there at just the right time.  I know when new merchandise goes on the floor at my favorite thrift store.  But if I have something else going on on Thursday mornings I don’t sweat it.  Even if I show up on Friday there will still be plenty of deals for me to find.  Thrifting shouldn’t be anything to stress over.

Have plenty of cash in small bills.  Not all stores can break big bills.  It would be sad to leave that magenta disco dress just because all you have is a fifty.

thrifting
Wear slip on shoes.  If you are at a store that has a dressing room, and not all do, then slip on shoes will make trying on so much quicker.

If there is no dressing room, there is no shame in slipping the clothes on over top of what you’re wearing.

Above all enjoy yourself!  Where else can you have this much fun for under ten bucks?

Until next time…
