Girls Day Out

My best friend and I were planning a day out.  Our first question after deciding where we were going was “WHAT ARE WE GOING TO WEAR?!?”

I need to build an outfit and I want it to be girly.  I start with a pink scarf.

Add some over-the-top earrings…

Big girls can still like “Hello Kitty”, right?

With all this color noise, I need to turn down the volume with some neutrals.  Part of our day will involve a walk, so I want to be comfortable and casual.  I add a white top and denim shorts.  Pile on a bold ring to match the earrings and a pink flower vintage pin and I’m good to go.

What I’m wearing:  Scarf, local store.  White top, Belk’s on sale.  Denim shorts. Walmart.  Belt, Eddie Bauer Outlet.  Earrings, retail store.  Ring, local store.  Purse, Burke’s.  Flip-flops, local store.  Vintage flower pin.

I’ll post next time about our girl’s day out and show you the final version of what I ended up wearing.  We had an unusual day in a place we just discovered!

Until next time…live your lemonade life!

Bright Floral + Zebra

What are some of your favorite color combinations to wear?  Denim and white?  Pastels with silver?  Cream with tan?  Green with pale pink?  Hot pink and orange?

One of my favorite combinations is brights with graphic black and white.  The contrast of the black and the relief of the white seems to make the brights even bolder.

What I’m wearing:  Vintage Cotton Sundress, Goodwill.  Pink shrug, Burlington Coat Factory.  Zebra scarf, Rite Aid.  Zebra shoes, Shoe Show.  Felt Flower and Plastic Bead Necklace, Goodwill.

This goes along with the question, “Where Do You Find Your Fashion?”  These pieces came from a second-hand store, a drugstore and two chain stores.

I’ve got two questions for you to think about this week…

  1. What are some new color combinations you could try?
  2. Where are some unusual places that you might find unique clothing items?

Readers, I appreciate and thank you for your thoughtful comments!  That’s one of the things that keeps a blogger blogging!  I have been slow in replying this week, but I will get there!  We’ve had a good, but busy week, here in the Springs.

I wish you a good week and I hope you…keep on living your Lemonade Life!

Vintage Dotted Dress

I found this vintage style dotted dress at my local Goodwill.  It has a “one-size-fits-all” fit, a square neckline and attached self-tie which you can tie in front or back.  This navy cotton dress is super comfortable and forgiving thanks to it’s roomy style. The only tag in the dress says “Made in India.”  I’ve worn this several times already and it seems like the sort of dress you could hang onto forever.  Did I mention it was only five dollars?!?  Ahhh…thrifting!

It’s always fun to find that one (or ten!) special items at your local thrift store!  And by local I mean scouring the thrift stores of whatever city you find yourself in.

Do you make thrifting a part of your trip when you visit new places?

Live your lemonade life,

Debbie
